Dukes’s Early Lead Over Lumberjacks Sets Stage For Victory
An early lead helped Dukes defeat Lumberjacks 8-5 on Tuesday. Dukes took the lead on a single in the first inning.
Dukes notched five runs in the fifth inning. Thomas Kwakernaak and Gijs Van Zalingen all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Ben Van Dulken was on the hill for Dukes. He allowed one hit and one run over three innings, striking out one.
Nathan Lefevere toed the rubber for Lumberjacks. He went two innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out three. Pim Vijfvinkel, Tyriq Kemp, and Elias Espling each contributed in relief for Lumberjacks.
Dukes tallied one home run on the day. Kwakernaak had a dinger in the fifth inning.
Thomas Maathuis led Dukes with two hits in two at bats. Marnix Ruben led Dukes with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
