Early Lead For Chargers Seals Fate For Dragons
Dragons fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 9-5 loss to Chargers on Friday. Chargers scored on a home run by Quentin Devreese and a home run by Mart Blijleven in the first inning.
Chargers fired up the offense in the first inning. Devreese drove in two when he homered.
Dragons notched three runs in the sixth inning. Mees Robberse, Stijn Van der Schaaf, and Tygo Rojer powered the big inning with RBIs.
Chargers scored six runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Chargers came thanks to singles by Gabriel Salazar Mata, Darnel Collins, Devreese, and Blijleven, a fielder’s choice by Ingmar Hutzezon, and an error on a ball put in play by Matt Furst.
Brandon Herbold led things off on the mound for Chargers. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over four innings, striking out four and walking one.
Kaien Oukes toed the rubber for Dragons. He went five and a third innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out ten. Ryan Hoogendoorn threw two-thirds of an inning in relief.
Dragons hit one home run on the day. Van der Schaaf had a long ball in the fifth inning.
Luca Pastor went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Dragons in hits.
Chargers saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. Blijleven, Devreese, and Collins each had multiple hits for Chargers. Blijleven led Chargers with three hits in four at bats.
