Van Hevel’s Walk-Off Gives Patriots Victory Over Titans
It came down to the wire on Wednesday, with Patriots taking victory on a dramatic walk-off single in the late innings that sealed their victory over Titans. The game was tied at seven with Patriots batting in the bottom of the eighth when Kevin Van Hevel singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Patriots earned the victory despite allowing Titans to score four runs in the seventh inning. Daniel Axson and Zion De Brauwer each had RBIs in the big inning.
Titans got on the board in the first inning when Daan Verpaalen singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Patriots tied things up at seven when Tijmen Stark doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs.
After Titans scored one run in the top of the second, 18U Patriots answered with one of their own. Titans scored when an error scored one run for Titans.
Patriots tallied six runs in the seventh inning. Patriots’s big bats in the inning were led by doubles by Nils De Kloe and Stark and by Jelger Algra.
Sebastian Kok led things off on the mound for Patriots. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out five.
Koen Postelmans led things off on the hill for Titans. He went six and a third innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out eight and walking one. Finn Kops and Thijs Rijpstra entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one-third of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.
Luuk Bun led Patriots with two hits in three at bats.
Titans racked up eight hits in the game. Axson and Verpaalen each had multiple hits for 18U Titans.
